- All homes in Manzanares must be Energy Star-rated.
- Air-tight insulation is used to create higher air quality and lower utility costs.
- Low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) emission materials, including finishes and woods with no fillers, are used to promote excellent indoor air quality and eliminate allergens and irritants.
- Recycled and/or recyclable materials are used, including carpet, cork, renewable hardwoods, concrete counter tops, and others.
- Energy Start appliances are used for greater utility savings, including dishwashers, refrigerators, and washers and dryers.
- Long-lasting and more efficient lighting systems are used.
- Properly sized and regulated HVAC systems, plus careful sealing of pip entries, are installed for utility conservation, savings, and noise reduction.

- Materials that require less energy in the manufacturing process, such as recycled concrete counter tops and natural minerals and stone, are utilized.
